Having a video for your medical practice’s Facebook, blog or website is a great marketing tool! A video is a cost effective way to make your practice more well-known and build credibility.

Following these easy instructions, you can create a simple and fun two-minute video for your practice using an iPad 2 and Apple’s iMovie App. In fact, the following instructional video was made using the same tools by our own video producer, Suban Dey.

There are three parts necessary for complete video— (1) an interview, (2) short clips or pictures and (3) music.

For the interview, rehearse three to four questions and answers that capture what you’re trying to communicate to your viewers. Decide which parts of the Q&A you want to say on camera and which part you want to narrate over short clips or pictures. When you’re ready to shoot, just start the iMovie App and record. Film in a location that’s quiet and has a lot of light. Face the light so the video looks bright and clean. For the audio you narrate, find a quiet location so the audio is clean and without background noise.

After you record the interview, film short clips or take pictures of activities at your office, such as front office staff booking an appointment, doctors taking care of their patients or whatever keeps your staff busy. You can even use existing photos. The more clips and pictures you take, the more interesting your interview will be. Don’t forget to get a picture of your staff smiling on camera!

Edit the video with the iMovie App by selecting a clip or image. Add voice-over narration over the clips or pictures. Try different combinations of interview, clips, and so on. Finally, select a song and type in a title for the beginning of the video. It’s simple and fun, so play around!

Once you’re done, upload the video to Facebook or Youtube right from the iMovie App.
