ICD-10 Transition: What You Need to Know

Date: November 2010

One of the biggest changes to affect the entire healthcare industry is the pending required adoption of the new X12 Version 5010 Electronic Transaction Standard and International Classifications of Diseases procedure codes, or ICD-10 code sets, which will expand the current 17,000 coding options to the 155,000 code sets. To prepare for the ICD-10 transition, medical billers and coders will also be required to begin using the new Version 5010 Electronic Transaction Standard form, an Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 standard required under HIPAA for electronic claims, remittance, eligibility, claims status inquiry or any other electronic transaction, which will accommodate the expansion to the coding sets.

The Version 5010 changes are set to take effect on January 1, 2012 and the ICD-10 transition date is October 1, 2013. In this podcast you will learn what your medical practice or medical billing company will need to do to be prepared in advance of these deadlines and how Nuesoft is making the transition as seamless as possible.
